Scale Sketch (January 28, 2007)

All I could think about today was a fat guy on a scale, so, I drew him. I didn't much care for the end product. The lines were too frizzy and random and didn't really catch what I was trying to portray. But after paiting it, I decided to post it anyway. Enjoy.

trying some of the challenges

shoe

I've been a mamber of the E.D.M. group for a while, but I haven't really done many of the regualar challenges that they do. So I have decided that I'm going to try to knock off the entire list of challenges in the next few months. Here are my first two.

Sickly

sicklymoon

I called in sick today at work because I was up all night coughing and being miserable. I've been sleeping all day to get better, and now I can't sleep (although still miserable). I did this sketch a little while ago to capture what I'm feeling.

BELLYBOY...another sketch

bellyboy

Here is another sketch. I felt like being a little whimsical and cartoonish. Part of me likes the doodle, the other part wants to crinkle it up and toss it. But drawing is learning. Now I have to figure out what I don't like about it.

Saturday's Sketches (January 20, 2007)

barbersink

Today was a day full of chores, errands and mindless running around. I did, however, get my hair cut. There is a little old man who runs his barber shop. Both of his other partners have died, and he alone runs the shop. It is called the Alto Barber Shop, and every time I go in there, it is packed. He is always dressed in a white, short-sleeved shirt, tie, slacks and dress shoes, and loves to talk with all the people that come in to get their hair done.
When I found this guy, it was like stepping back into time. I don't care about the wait, I love it.
While I was waiting, I decided to sketch one of the 3 hair wash basins that he has lining the old shop.

This other sketch is one of a snake that I didn't really enjoy drawing. This came out of my head, which is evident by the unfinished nature of the head. I promised myself that I would take a look at snake heads so I could finish it, but grew uninterested in the doodle. So, here is a semi-finished snake sketch...

Sunday Sketch of Sumo Sailing....

sumodreaming

Today, while feeling a yearning for escape and flight (could have been that I watched superman returns last night), I began sketching dreams. Somehow my mind got onto Sumo Wrestlers and what dreams they may have. This was the result. I LOVED doing this one, it was fun, and helped me deal with my own desire to fly.
